BURNETTE CD « Rock’n’roll with it »(sorti en 2011): le génie musical
n’est pas héréditaire , ça on le sait , sinon on aurait les fils de Chuck BERRY
, d’Eddie COCHRAN ou de Jerry Lee LEWIS. Pourtant il y a une exception avec la
famille BURNETTE….Billy BURNETTE ( né en mai 1953 ) est le fils de Dorsey
BURNETTE frère de Johnny tous 2 membres du Rock’n’Roll trio créé en 1957….les 2
frères ont créé des rocks de légende comme : « Rockabilly
Boogie », le titre très sixties « You’re sixteen » et le « it’s late » de Ricky NELSON ;
c’est dire si Billy BURNETTE a le rock dans le sang !!!
Il
revient en 2011 sur le devant de la scène musicale avec un album au son et à
l’inspiration très rockabilly comme peu d’artistes auraient pu le faire….12
titres composés par Billy BURNETTE dont notamment les superbes
« Rock’n’Roll with it », « Wrong or Right », »Hot Rod
Hillbilly »et le slow-rock « Only the River Knows »….C’est un
album exceptionnel.

BILLY BURNETTE CD
« Rock’n’Roll with it » released in 2011 : The musical genius is
not hereditary, we know it, otherwise we would have the sons of Chuck BERRY,
Eddie COCHRAN or Jerry Lee LEWIS. Nevertheless there is an exception with the
BURNETTE Family. Billy BURNETTE was born in may 1953, he is the son of Dorsey
BURNETTE, brother of Johnny, a both members of the Rock’n’ Roll trio founded in
1957… both created rocks of legend like : “Rockabilly Boogie”, the title very
sixties “You’re sixteen” and the “It’s late” of Ricky NELSON. Billy BURNETTE
has the rock in the veins!!!
He comes back in 2011 on the
stage with an album at the sound and the inspiration very rockabilly, some
artists would have been able to make it. 12 tracks composed by Billy BURNETTE
as the superb “Rock’n’Roll with it”, “Wrong or Right”, “Hot Rod Hillbilly” and
the slow-rock “Only the River Knows”… It is
an exceptional album.

PETE and the COOL CATS : « Bound to Rock » ( CD 2011 sur le
label suédois ILEN) : 13 titres
superbement rock/boogie , dont 10 composés par Marcus ANDERSSON le batteur du
groupe…On trouve même une reprise surprenante ici du classique
« California Dreams »des Mama’s and Papa’s des années 60.Le groupe
est composé d’excellents musiciens , notamment les 3 frères KARLSSON , dont
Peter Karlsson le chanteur et guitariste rythmique…A noter quelques fois une
belle guitare twangy et le superbe
« Just a Country Boy » , un rock/doowop très dansant.
SNEAKY PETE and the COOL
CATS : “Bound to Rock” (CD 2011 on the Swedish label ILEN) – 13 tracks
magnificently rock/boogie, among which 10 composed by Marcus ANDERSSON, the
drummer of the group… We find even a cover of the classic “California dreams”
of Mama’s and Papa’s of the 60s. The is composed of excellent musicians, in
particular the 3 brothers KARLSSON, among Peter Karlsson the singer and
rhythmic guitarist… To note sometimes a beautifyl twangy guitar and the superb
“Just a country boy”, a very dance rock/doowop.

CD « Full Throttle » 2010 (sur le label Rebel Music) groupe de
Rock’n’Roll Teddy Boy : sur le disque 8
compos personnelles du groupe dont les superbes
« Rockabilly Kangaroo », « You’re Gone « ,
« Rock the Night Away » ….et aussi quelques reprises magistrales
comme « So long Baby Goodbye » , « Caterpillar » ( de Ray
Campi), la belle version de « Mean Little Mama » ou de « Almost
Grown » ( de Chuck Berry). C’est un très bon groupe avec de très bons
musiciens , une rythmique infernale et un superbe piano .
SNAKEBITE : CD “Full Throttle” in
2012 on the label Rebel Music, a group of Rock’n’Roll Teddy Boy: on the CD, 8
personal compositions of the group whose the superb “Rockabilly Kangaroo”,
“You’re Gone”, “Rock the Nick Away”… and also some great covers like “So Long
Baby Goodbye”, Caterpillar” (of Ray Campi), the beautiful cover of “Mean Little
Mama” or of “Almost grown” (of Chuck Berry). It is a very good group with great
musicians, an infernal rhythm beat and a superb piano.

BARBECUE BOB and the
SPARERIBS : « the Sacred and the Propane » 4éme et avant dernier
CD de ce groupe américain ( sorti en 2001). Le
titre est volontairement iconoclaste et provocateur ( le sacré et le
propane !) avec cette pochette comme une crèche œcuménique rassemblée
autour du barbecue . Le son est toujours aussi rock/blues déjanté…Parmi mes
préférés : « Hey Little Girl », le superbe « Don’t Start
Crying Now » et « We Gotta Rock ».
BARBECUE BOB and the SPARERIBS :
“the Sacred and the Propane” 4th and last-but-one CD of this group,
American group released in 2001. The title is voluntarily iconoclastic and
provocative (The Sacred and the Propane!) with this cover a ecumenical
christmas crib gathered around the barbecue. The sound is always also crazy
rock/blues…. Among my favourite : “Hey Little Girl”, the superb “Don’t Start
Crying Now” and “We Gotta Rock”.
Compilation
Surf : « the SURFITES and CO »( CD 2010) sur Double Crown Records , nouveau label dans
l’émission basé à Bellingham aux USA. Au
menu 4 excellents groupes de surf rock instrumental très inspirés par le son
des années 50. Parmi mes préférés : The SURFITES avec les excellents
« Gnarly Charlie Brown », « Surf Reveille »ou « La
Ronde Infernale » avec un son très pur et très proche des VENTURES…Autre
groupe remarquable : The EXCELSIORS avec notamment le superbe
« Vanadis » suivi de « Strange Planet » et « Lunatic
Planet ».
Je
vous reparlerai de ce label ( Double Crown Records) spécialisé dans le
surf/rock instrumental dans les mois à venir.
Surfing Compilation :
« The SURFITES and CO » (CD 2010) on Double Crown Records, new label
in the broadcast based in Bellingham to the USA. Presenting 4 excellent groups
of instrumental rock surfing very inspired by the sound of the 50s. Among my
favourite : The SURFITES with excellent “Gnarly Charlie Brown”, “Surf Reveille”
or “The Infernal Round” with a very pure and very close sound VENTURES…. An
other excellent group : The EXCELSIORS with in particular the superb “Vanadis”
followed by “Strange Planet” and “Lunatic Planet”.
I would talk about of this label
(Double Crown Records) specialized in the instrumental surfing/rock in the next
months.

séquence française du mois est consacrée cette fois-ci à un label :
RYDELL’S Records basé en Touraine , ouvert officiellement depuis Avril
2010… ; un des rares labels ( ou peut-être même le seul) de l’hexagone à
sortir encore des 45 tours vinyls d’une qualité exceptionnelle. Sur ce CD hors
commerce Steve ( le big boss du label) nous propose en exclusivité pour Memphis
Tennessee des séances d’enregistrement dans les studios RYDELL qui vont de 2008 à
2012 avec les groupes suivants : BAD HANGOVER (de Paris ), Roy THOMPSON
and the Mellow Kings ( de Bourges), Nelson CARRERA (franco-portugais déjà reçu
dans l’émission), The OBSCURITONES

The French sequence of this month
is, this time, dedicated at the label : RYDELL’s Records based in Touraine,
founded officially since April 2010…, one of the rare label (maybe the only
one) of the hexagon which release again 45 vinyls with an exceptional quality.
On this promotional copy, Steve the big boss of the label, proposes us
exclusively for Memphis Tennessee the recording sessions in the studio RYDELL
from 2008 to 2011 with the following groups : BAD HANDOVER (of PARIS), ROY
THOMPSON and the MELLOW KINGS (de Bourges), NELSON CARRERA (of franco Portuguese)
already received the show, the OBSCURITONES (English group), EMER HACKETT
(Irish resident in Montpellier), CHRIS ALMOADA and especially the excellent
CAPITOS (of Bourges) with exceptional classic covers of Gene VINCENT like “Who
Slapped John”, “Crazy Legs”,… a great musical time…
