Rock avec le groupe Mars Attacks (CD 2011 sur Part Records) c’est une compilation qui regroupe les enregistrements favoris du groupe entre 1998 et 2003 et certains titres rares de leur 45 tours vinyl de 2000 ; c’est un excellent disque et ce sera un CD à gagner en janvier.

Le groupe autrichien : The Slapbacks « Buckle up » CD sorti en 2008 sur le label Rhythm Bomb. C’est un trio, les titres sont très honky tonk/rock/boogie avec de belles reprises de Johnny Cash (comme « Understand your man » et « Get rhythm ») ou quelquefois des compositions personnelles à la manière de Johnny Cash. Autres titres de Noël, « Rocking Rolling Christmas » (CD autoproduit) par Ian Fenn, un artiste anglais multi-instrumentiste qui fait ces CD tout seul avec claviers et séquenceur. Très inspiré par Bill Haley, il cultive même la ressemblance vocale avec lui. Plus quelques excellents titres comme « Red River boogie » et « Paralysed ». C’est l’occasion d’écouter ces titres, d’autres suivront dans les mois futurs, cette fois-ci des reprises de grands classiques de Bill Haley.

La musique du groupe est très jump/jive avec beaucoup de compositions personnelles et quelquefois des reprises de Louis Prima (c’est un peu dans le style du groupe américain Eight to the Bar). En 2012, je vous proposerai des extraits d’un album compilation regroupant des titres de 1993 à 2003.

The Dino Martinis : Canadian group from Calgary, has just released a special Christmas CD, whose the title is a wink to the Elvis Presley Album : “50 millions Santa fans can’t be wrong”. The music is really jump/jive with a lot of personal compositions and sometimes covers of Louis Prima. (the same style like the American group Eigth to the Bar). Le Big Fat Combo est un groupe américain que m’a fait découvrir Cynthia Lyon, la chanteuse pianiste du groupe Eight to the Bar. Ce sont des amis à elle, mais le groupe est beaucoup plus rock’n’roll et rockabilly. La pochette de leur premier et unique CD est superbement rétro et la musique contient quelques perles rares à découvrir. Ces musiciens ont besoin de votre encouragement parce qu’ils sont en proie à de gros doutes et de fortes désillusions. (album 2010 « Chicks Dig It »)

The Big Fat Combo is a U.S. group that introduced me to Cynthia Lyon, singer pianist of the group Eight to the Bar. They are friends’s, but the group is much more rock'n'roll and rockabilly. The cover of their first and only CD is beautifully retro, music contains some gems to be discovered. Le groupe allemand The Jailbirds (sur le label Part Records), groupe né au début des années 1990 avec à son actif 5 albums. Le CD « Jailbirds Special » : compile 20 titres (4 titres par albums) + 7 titres rares. Une bonne façon de découvrir un des groupes phares du rock’n’roll allemand… « And the Beat Goes On ».

Country musique avec le duo The Bellamy Brothers. Les compères ont sorti en 2009 une anthologie vol. 1 et 2 composée de 2 CD et 2 DVD, reprennant les grands titres qui ont fait leur succès et qui se sont souvent classés n° 1 au top ten.

3^ème et dernier CD de l’allemand Johnny Trouble (sorti en 2011) intitulé « Rainy Days » (11 compositions personnelles sur 16 titres). Le trio est devenu 1 groupe de 5 musiciens et même avec ces apports nouveaux, la musique de Johnny Trouble n’a rien perdu de son authenticité d’origine.

Mike Sanchez : son dernier CD paru en 2010 (sur son propre label) « Babes and Buick » : tout un programme fait de Pin Up bien carrossées et de carrosseries mythiques tout en rondeurs. L’album est superbe : du blues shoutés, chanté par un blanc latino au vocal sauvage : c’est le digne successeur de Big Joe Turner et consorts…(16 titres affichés + 7 titres « fantômes », à découvrir comme « Hifi Baby », « Let the 4 wind Blows » (de Fats Domino)…

La séquence rétro est directement liée à Mike Sanchez avec un CD de 1995 (sur le label anglais Vinyl Japan) du groupe “The Big Six”, un groupe crée à l’époque avec la crème des musiciens. La filiation avec Bill Haley est évidente dès la pochette et la qualité musicale est au rendez-vous. C’est du jump/jive et ça bouge…

The flash back sequence is directly close to Mike Sanchez with a CD of 1995 (on the british label Vinyl Japan) of the group "The Big Six", a group created at the time with the cream of musicians. CD sorti en 2010 sur le label BUNDOORA (15 titres dont 9 compositions personnelles). Leur CD « On the Wagon » est très Honky Tonk/Boogie/Country. A noter quelques superbes titres comme “Border Town “, “Take the Line” ou “Easily loved”. Encore une fois une exclusivité Memphis Tennessee qui va enchanter vos oreilles.
