composé du père ( Nigel BLACKWELL chant
et guitare) et de ses 3 enfants: John ( contrebasse et chant) , Charlie (
piano, guitare , saxophone) et de la petite dernière Miss Keri Ann (à la batterie).
13 titres sur ce CD dont
8 compositions personnelles des BLACKWELL père et fils ; c’est super avec
un petit côté boogie/rock. Parmi mes préférés : « Hail, Hail Rock’n’Roll » ,
« If I Ain’t Nailed Down », le superbe “Only Mine” et “This Old Town Called Rock’n’Roll”. Mais ou
est passée la maman!!!

dont 13 reprises de classiques de Bill HALEY par cet artiste anglais qui cultive la ressemblance

Ghetto records, label basé dans la banlieue de Détroit.) 9 titres dans la veine de Wanda JACKSON ou
de Janis MARTIN ( « I Gotta Know » , « Hot Dog that Made him Mad »
, « Fujiyama Mama » ou « My Boy Elvis »…). Mention speciale pour la pochette trés retro avec la trés sexy Elle
MAE ( au chant) , Marlie D (guitare) plus James Macphee à la contrebasse et
Mike Kissick à la batterie. A noter le super rock « Love Me Honey Do » et le slow « Love

The PHANTOM SHAKERS CD "the Ghetto session" (2010 Ghetto
record, label based in suburban Detroit.) 9 songs in the vein of Wanda Jackson
and Janis Martin ("I Gotta Know", "Hot Dog That Made him
Mad" "Fujiyama Mama" and "My Boy Elvis"...). Special
mention for the very retro cover with the very sexy Elle MAE (vocals), Marlie D
(guitar) plus Macphee James on bass and Mike Kissick on drums. Note the super
rock "Love Me Honey Do" and the slow "Love Letters."

The HILLBILLY PREACHERS
"Welcome to Confession" (CD 2007 on Rhythm Bomb Records). 12 tracks
very honky tonk/hillbilly with 9 originals by Carlo Starcevic (Serbian musician
and leader Mississippi Queen band that we hear next emissions). The 2 clergyman (Don Karlos and
Don Pit) receive the encouragement of excellent German band Round Up Boys. This
is really a great CD and my favorite tracks are: "Brand New Fool",
"So Long," "Leave the Bottle Open," "Just Leave",
"Surprise" or "Could it Be"
WILD Bob BURGOS : CD »Real Gone Rockin’ » (TCY 2012). 14 titres tous composés par Bob BURGOS surnommé le “marteau
pilon” du rock’n’roll pour son jeu de batterie super efficace….C’est de la
musique de Teddy Boys avec des belles réussites comme les
instrumentaux : »Halcyon Harvest » ou « Twango » et
des rocks très dansants : « Feel so Bad » , « the Blues had
a Baby » , « Back to the Highway » ou « Benson Boogie »…..
WILD Bob
BURGOS: CD »Real Gone Rockin '" (TCY 2012). 14 tracks, all composed by Bob
BURGOS nicknamed the “sledgehammer” for his powerful Rock’n’Roll drumming. It
is the Teddy Boy music with successes like instrumentals : “Halcyon Harvest” or
“Twango” and rocks very dancing “Feel so Bad”, “The Blues had a Baby”, “Back to
the Highway” or “Benson Boogie”…

Jennifer WEATHERLY : CD « Playin’ Favorites » (2004 sur
Cowboy Kurt records). C’est un album superbe
ou Jennifer se fait plaisir (et à nous aussi) en reprenant des classiques ( et des titres qu’elle
aime)de façon exceptionnelle : écoutez la version de “Hillbilly Rock” , le
medley “Fast as You/Pretty Woman” et les 2 superbes slows “It’s Only Make Believe” et l’exceptionnel
“She’s Got You”….c’est de toute beauté…

WEATHERLY: CD "Playin 'Favorites" (2004 Cowboy Kurt records). This is a superb album and Jennifer is happy (and us too).
She sings the covers of country classic and some tracks she likes, it is so
exceptional… listen the covers of "Hillbilly Rock," the medley
"Fast as You/Pretty Woman" and 2 superb slows "It's Only Make
Believe” and the exceptional "She's Got You".... it is beautiful...

Knut BELL : CD “Wicked, Orny, Mean and Nasty” (2011) . 5éme album de cet artiste américain enregistré à San Marcos au
Texas , avec 8 compositions personnelles de Knut BELL. C’est un mélange de
country/honky tonk/ rockabilly , le meilleur peut-être de cet ancien pêcheur
devenu musicien avec une superbe voix de baryton un peu comparable à celle de
Johnny Cash. Parmi mes titres préférés : « Skagit Days » avec
une belle guitare twangy , « Mt Dew and Truckstop Chili » , « An
Américan Man » , « Bad,Bad Girl ».

by this American artist recorded in San Marcos, Texas, with eight originals by Knut
BELL. It is a mix of country/honky tonk/rockabilly, perhaps the best of the old
fisherman turned musician with a beautiful baritone voice like Johnny Cash
voice. Among my favorite songs: "Skagit Days" with a nice twangy

CD de ce groupe italien (qui en a 3 à son actif ). C’est bien fait et bien
chanté souvent très inspiré par Elvis…, c’est rock et en même temps le vocal
est très latin…Mes titres préférés : « A Big Hunk O’ Love » , « Pretty
Woman » , « Let’s Twist Again» , « You Never Can Tell » ou « Surfin’
USA »…..
Grace au chanteur Al
BIANCHI je pourrai en plus vous diffuser en exclusivité des titres hors
commerce comme les superbes « Almost Nineteen » et « The Only Thing I Know ».
The FOUR VEGAS: CD "Viva Vegas Four." This is the first CD of
the Italian group (They have 3 CD). It is well done and well sung often
inspired by Elvis ... Rock and at the same time a very good latin voice... My
favorite tracks: "A Big Hunk O 'Love," "Pretty Woman,"

'USA".....

The DOWNTOWN DADDYO’S : CD « Smile » auto-produit. Groupe anglais de 4
musiciens avec notamment les 2 frères RUSSEL ( Steve et Barrie : piano / vocal
et batterie/vocal). 12 titres sur ce CD et encore une fois essentiellement des
reprises superbes ! Mes préférés : « Smile »,
« Catacombe Rock »( composé par le batteur Barrie RUSSEL),
« Queen of the Hop », « Charming Billy » et une version magistrale du classique « Seven
Nights to Rock ».

Le groupe hollandais ACES AGAIN : CD 2010 “Back in Time” (auto
produit): ces 4 musiciens ne sont pas tatoués et n’ont pas la “banane”, en un
mot ils n’ont pas le look rock’n’roll….et pourtant….Ce sont des musiciens
exceptionnels : excellente guitare au son très Shadows et le vocal est
toujours impeccable. Que des reprises sur ce CD et à chaque fois
superbes : écoutez la version de « Rockabilly Rebel », de
« Blue Jean Bop », l’instrumental « Walk don’t Run » ou le
superbe slow « Young and Beautiful »…..la grande classe !
The Netherland group
ACES AGAIN: CD in 2010 "Back in Time" (self-produced): these four
musicians are not tattooed and do not have the "ducktail", so they do
not have the look rock'n'roll and yet… These are exceptional musicians: very
good guitar sound like Shadows and the vocal is always impeccable. Only covers on this CD and all the time
superb: listen the version of
"Rockabilly Rebel", "Blue Jean Bop", the instrumental
"Walk don’t Run" or the superb slow "Young and Beautiful"…
the class!

Jimmi ACCARDI and the Wild Cats : CD « Rockin’ and Jumpin’ »(2007) sur le label américain Molehill records. 12 titres sur ce CD tous composés par Jimmi ACCARDI chanteur, guitariste et pianiste californien. Si vous aimez le rock/R’n’Blues/jive des 50’s ce disque vous plaira…A noter les superbes : « Promises of Love », « Suffer », le slow-rock louisianais « the Price of Love » et le rock/jump « Cadillac Coupe de Ville ».

Wild Cats: CD "Rockin 'and Jumpin'" (2007) on the American label
Molehill records. 12 tracks on this CD, all composed by Jimmi ACCARDI singer,
guitarist and pianist from California. If you like rock / R'n’Blues / jive of
50's, this disc will enjoy you ... Note: "Promises of Love",
"Suffer", the slow-rock Louisiana "the Price of Love" and
the rock / jump "Cadillac Coupe de Ville."

des reprises superbes comme «That Ain’t Nothin but Right» chanté dans les 50’s
par Mac Curtis, ou le « Cry, Cry, Cry » de Johnny Cash et
« Sixteen Chicks ».

consacré exclusivement aux chansons presque oubliées de Buddy Holly sans
chercher à l’imiter vocalement, c’est bien joué et bien fait par un musicien
qui connait son sujet. A noter les belles versions de
« I’m Gonna Set my Foot Down », « It’s too late », “Modern
Don Juan” et “Lonesome Tears”.

Janis MARTIN : the Blanco
Sessions ( Cow Island Music -2012) , album co-produit par Rosie FLORES. Entre ces 2 musiciennes c’est une longue histoire
d’amitié depuis leur complicité musicale sur l’album de Rosie FLORES
« Rockabilly Filly »(1995) ; depuis cette date Rosie a toujours
eu envie de produire un album de Janis
MARTIN. En 2006 Rosie rentre à Austin et retrouve son ami producteur Bobby
TRIMBLE ( batteur du groupe de Big SANDY) ; ils réunissent la crème des
musiciens d’Austin : Dave BILLER (guitare) , Beau SAMPLE ( basse), et T
Jarod BONTA ( piano). En Avril 2007 Janis MARTIN entourée du groupe enregistre
11 morceaux en 2 jours à BLANCO ( Texas) : le résultat est
superbe !!! Encore une fois des reprises ….mais quelles reprises… ! Ecoutez
« As long As I’m Movin », « Wham Bam Jam »,
« Wild One » , « It ‘ll Be Me » ou le superbe « Oh
Lonesome Me”…!
Quelques
mois après l’enregistrement Janis téléphone à Rosie FLORES pour lui
annoncer que les médecins viennent de lui diagnostiquer un cancer à un stade
très avancé….( elle meurt 4 mois plus tard..).Le pire c’est que depuis 2007
Rosie FLORES fait le tour des grands labels pour leur proposer cet
enregistrement ….aucun n’en a voulu prétextant le fait que Janis ne pourrait
pas en assurer la promo… !!! Finalement dégoutée Rosie a décidé de sortir et produire cet
enregistrement elle-même avec le label Cow Island Music : heureusement que
ce petit label a fait le travail que les autres n’ont pas eu la décence
d’accepter…. !! Honte à eux.. !!
Janis Martin: the Blanco Sessions
(Cow Island Music -2012), an album co-produced by Rosie Flores. Between these
two musicians is a long history of friendship since their musical complicity on
the album Rosie Flores' Rockabilly Filly "(1995) and since then Rosie has
always wanted to produce an album of Janis Martin. In 2006 Rosie returned to
Austin and finds again his friend producer Bobby TRIMBLE (drummer of Big SANDY)
they meet the elite of Austin musicians: Dave BILLER (guitar), Beau SAMPLE
(bass), and T Jarod Bonta (piano ). In April 2007 Janis MARTIN surrounded by
the group recorded 11 songs in 2 days in BLANCO (Texas): the result is amazing!
Once again there are a cover versions.... but what covers! Listen to "As long As I'm Movin", "Wham Bam Jam," "Wild One,"
"It'll Be Me" or the beautiful "Oh Lonesome Me"...!
A few months after recording Janis
call Rosie Flores to tell her that the doctors just diagnose cancer at an
advanced stage .... (she died 4 months later ..). Worst is that since 2007
Rosie FLORES toured the major labels to offer them this recording.... none of
them were interested claiming that Janis could not ensure the promotion...! At
the end Rosie was disgust, she decided to leave and produce the recording
itself with the label Cow Island Music: fortunately that small label did the work that the others
did not have the decency to accept .... ! Shame on them .. !

Girls Guitar” sorti en Septembre 2012 sur le label Bloodshot records (basé à
Détroit). C’est le 11éme album de la « Rockabilly Filly » qui chante
, compose et joue de la guitare en virtuose. Toujours la même qualité musicale
avec en prime des reprises superbes de «Too Much » et de « Drugstore
Rock’n’Roll » titre phare du répertoire de Janis MARTIN …comme par hasard…. ?
Dommage qu’il n’y ait que 9 titres sur cet album….un peu
trop court …j’en attendais plus.
A noter aussi la
superbe ballade « Love must have passed me by »

"Working Girls Guitar" released in September 2012 on the label
Bloodshot Records (based in Detroit). This is the 11th album from the
"Rockabilly Filly" who sings, composes and plays the guitar virtuose.
Always the same musical quality with the added bonus of superb covers "Too
Much" and "Drugstore Rock'n'Roll" as hit song of Janis Martin
... by chance .... ?
That is a pity that
there are only nine songs on this album .... little too short ... I expected more.
Also note the
beautiful ballad "Love must have Passed me by"

Daddies : CD « I’ll Get It Right » sur Rhythm Bomb records
-2007. Artiste australien , auteur
compositeur : sur les 17 titres de l’album 15 sont de lui ( les 2 autres étant
des reprises de Johnny BURNETTE et Groovey Joe POOVEY) , des titres composés
entre 2004 et 2006. C’est du Honky-Tonk/Rock superbe accompagné par des musiciens de qualité : écoutez les rock doux comme
« Your Mama’s Got Plans » , « Baby I’m Yours » ou le
country/honky tonk « Right or Wrong »…c’est superbe !!!

Rebel Music) : c’est le groupe de Stéfan PFEIFER à l’origine batteur du groupe
the Badland Slingers. De 1996 à 1999 il fonde le combo Jimmy CASTLE and the
Knights dont 4 titres figurent en bonus sur ce CD. Ensuite son projet l’amène à
fonder le groupe Warren ACE and the Dukes : sur le CD il y a 16 titres
tous composés par Stefan PFEIFER , beaucoup de rocks doux comme « Our
Dreams », « Love Burns » , « Tell Me » et le honky
tonk/rock « I wanna Say »….

reprises bien faites comme leur version du « Rock’n’Roll »( de Led

s’est fait connaitre en tant que co-fondateur des Fabulous Thunderbirds
dans les années 70. Avec sa bande de potes il reste rock’n’roll du début à la
fin …mes préférés : « I Ain’t Never » , « Breaking Up
is Hard to Do », « I’m a Love You » ou la version live de
« Shake a Hand »…des titres qui fleurent bon la Louisiane et le Goldband sound.. !

groupe allemand the Tielman Brothers qui
a été le groupe qui a le plus influencé l’histoire de la musique rock en
Allemagne. Quelques reprises très bien faites de Gene VINCENT , Chuck BERRY ou des Beach Boys et
d’excellentes compositions personnelles
du groupe comme « Andy’s Rock » ou « Goodnight Little
Suzie » ( à noter la superbe guitare de Patrick Kerger) ;
